Axel's take on CN Tower & Harbourfront: #4 of 6 in Toronto, 8.1/10
Big attractions and lakeside walks, with a different mood on game nights. Excellent sightseeing access and lakeside character outweigh a smaller, lower-scoring hotel selection, but value is weak and event crowds change the mood.
Bremner Boulevard puts the CN Tower, aquarium and Rogers Centre together; farther south, Queens Quay swaps attraction queues for lakeside paths, patios and Harbourfront Centre. This is an especially practical family base when sightseeing days need an easy reset, and a strong choice for combining a game with time by the water.
Do not mistake the whole neighbourhood for a quiet waterfront retreat. Stadium crowds change the mood, and the railway tracks and Gardiner make northbound walks feel less seamless than they look. Stay by Queens Quay for the promenade; skip it if Toronto's small-shop neighbourhood life is your priority.
- Best for: families, sports fans, first-time visitors, business trips and conventions
- Skip it if: You want independent shopping and neighbourhood dining; You dislike stadium crowds
- Getting around: Line 1 and regional trains at Union, with 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina service along Queens Quay; attractions are walkable; YYZ via UP Express to Union, and YTZ via its pedestrian tunnel followed by a walk or short taxi ride.
- After dark: Queens Quay can feel more relaxed than the stadium streets, which become crowded around games and concerts.
- Rates: Typical Axel rate $343 a night
