#5 of 8 hotels in North Monroe & I-10 by Axel's take. North Monroe & I-10 is #5 of 5 places to stay in Tallahassee. The best hotels in North Monroe & I-10, ranked · Where to stay in Tallahassee

Axel's take: 5.6/10

Convenient for a stopover, but cleanliness and maintenance are too inconsistent. A no-frills 2-star roadside motel off I-10, scored for what it is.

This is a no-frills 2-star roadside motel off I-10, not a campus hotel despite the University name. Free parking, free Wi-Fi and a first-pet-stays-free policy make it practical for drivers traveling with a dog or cat. Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the staff, and several summer 2026 Expedia reviews describe clean rooms and straightforward stays. Still, we'd treat it as a fallback rather than a dependable budget pick.

The problem is consistency, not missing luxuries. Other 2025–2026 guests report dirty bathrooms, stained linens, musty smells and faulty air-conditioning or plumbing; roach complaints also recur. Booking.com’s overall rating is notably weaker than Tripadvisor’s. A refundable check-in deposit is required, and refrigerators and microwaves depend on room type. We'd skip it if reliable cleanliness matters more than highway convenience.

Best for: Drivers needing a basic overnight stop; Budget travelers with one pet
Watch out for: Recurring cleanliness and pest complaints; Uneven air-conditioning and bathroom maintenance; Mandatory refundable check-in deposit
Location: Convenient to I-10; plan to drive to FSU and downtown rather than walk.
Rooms: Basic rooms with uneven upkeep; refrigerators and microwaves are available only in selected categories.
Cleanliness: Some recent guests report clean rooms, but dirty bathrooms, stained linens and pests recur.
Service: Friendly staff earn repeated praise, though problem resolution receives mixed feedback.
Amenities: Free parking, Wi-Fi and lobby coffee are the main extras; do not expect breakfast.
Fees and surprises: Refundable deposit required; first pet stays free, second pet costs extra, and early check-in carries a fee.
