#5 of 9 hotels in Downtown & the Capitol by Axel's take. Downtown & the Capitol is #2 of 5 places to stay in Tallahassee. The best hotels in Downtown & the Capitol, ranked · Where to stay in Tallahassee

Axel's take: 7.5/10

Spacious suites and helpful staff make this practical, but bathrooms show their age. a budget, all-suite chain hotel near downtown Tallahassee, scored for what it is.

This budget, all-suite hotel is a good pick for a short Capitol or university visit if space and useful basics matter more than fresh interiors. Recent Expedia guests and Booking.com reviews reproduced by Planet of Hotels regularly praise the helpful staff, roomy accommodations and convenient location. Free breakfast and parking add value, while microwaves and refrigerators make the suites practical for families.

The trade-off is an aging property with uneven room upkeep. Reviews through September 2026 mention worn bathrooms and occasional cleaning misses; musty room odors recur across multiple guests’ accounts. Many others describe clean, comfortable stays, so this is not a blanket cleanliness failure, but consistency is a weakness. We'd choose it for a straightforward short stay and skip it if you're sensitive to odors or expect recently refreshed rooms.

Best for: budget-conscious university visitors; families wanting extra room; short Capitol-area stays
Watch out for: dated bathrooms; recurring musty-odor reports; uneven housekeeping
Location: Convenient for downtown, the Capitol, restaurants and university visits; not an on-campus hotel.
Rooms: Spacious suites with sitting areas, microwaves and refrigerators; bathrooms and finishes show wear.
Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but odors and bathroom-cleaning complaints recur.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are one of the most consistent strengths across recent reviews.
Amenities: Free breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking, plus an outdoor pool and fitness center; not an indoor-pool hotel.
Fees and surprises: Pets incur an extra charge; confirm room eligibility and current pet restrictions directly.
