#9 of 9 hotels in Downtown & the Capitol by Axel's take. Downtown & the Capitol is #2 of 5 places to stay in Tallahassee. The best hotels in Downtown & the Capitol, ranked · Where to stay in Tallahassee

Axel's take: 4.9/10

Helpful staff and a convenient location cannot offset unreliable cleanliness and worn-out rooms. a no-frills 2-star motel near the Capitol, scored for what it is.

This is a no-frills 2-star motel on Apalachee Parkway, convenient for the Capitol and nearby restaurants, but we'd look elsewhere unless budget and location outweigh comfort. Free parking, pet-friendly rooms and coin laundry are practical strengths. Expedia and Google guest reviews repeatedly praise individual staff members, and some recent visitors report clean, comfortable stays. The overall picture is much less reassuring: Expedia rates it 5.6/10 and Tripadvisor 2.5/5.

The problem isn't a lack of luxury; it's inconsistent basics. Reviews across sites describe dirty bathrooms, unpleasant smells, worn fittings and broken equipment, with pest complaints continuing into 2026. Late-night activity outside rooms also troubles some guests. An outdoor pool receives recent praise, though listings disagree about availability, so confirm before relying on it. We'd skip this for family trips, light sleepers or anyone needing dependable cleanliness.

  • Best for: budget travelers prioritizing the Capitol area; travelers with pets who accept substantial trade-offs

  • Watch out for: recurring cleanliness and pest complaints; worn rooms and unreliable fixtures; late-night noise and activity outside rooms

  • Location: Convenient Apalachee Parkway location near restaurants, the Capitol and Cascades Park.

  • Rooms: Basic and dated; repeated reports of broken TVs, tired bathrooms and poorly fitting doors.

  • Cleanliness: A major weakness: positive reports coexist with recurring dirty-room, odor and pest complaints.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are the most consistent strength, though experiences vary.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, parking and coin laundry; recent guests praise the pool, but verify availability.

  • Fees and surprises: Early check-in can cost extra; confirm pet restrictions and request any essential room equipment.
