#2 of 9 hotels in Downtown & the Capitol by Axel's take. Downtown & the Capitol is #2 of 5 places to stay in Tallahassee. The best hotels in Downtown & the Capitol, ranked · Where to stay in Tallahassee
Axel's take: 8.2/10
A strong downtown base, provided you can live with the noise. a contemporary 3-star downtown hotel with a sociable lobby bar, scored for what it is.
Aloft Tallahassee Downtown is a contemporary 3-star that makes a strong base for Capitol business and university visits. Its downtown location puts restaurants within walking distance, while the bar, billiards table and outdoor pool give it more personality than a basic business hotel. A renovation completed in 2024 refreshed rooms and public spaces. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms and friendly staff; Tripadvisor feedback is more mixed but echoes those strengths.
The biggest trade-off is soundproofing: traffic noise and sound carrying between rooms recur across sites, making this a weaker choice for light sleepers. Breakfast and parking cost extra, and Marriott lists housekeeping every other day. Some guests report maintenance lapses; one June 2026 review described a flooded, closed gym, so confirm availability if workouts matter. We'd choose it for location and atmosphere, not guaranteed quiet.
-
