Axel's take: 8.6/10

Fresh rooms and personable service make this a strong central Stockholm base. a renovated, full-service five-star near Stockholm Central Station, scored for what it is.

This large, full-service five-star is a strong pick for travelers who want comfort and easy sightseeing rather than boutique intimacy. Marriott describes a major 2026 transformation, and summer guest reviews confirm refreshed rooms and public spaces. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, cleanliness and genuinely helpful staff. Central Station and Gamla Stan are an easy walk away; a lake-view room adds something distinctly Stockholm to an otherwise international-chain stay.

The compromises are mostly about scale. Breakfast wins praise for variety but gets busy, and recent Tripadvisor guests describe crowding in the Club Lounge. Some bathrooms remain compact despite the refurbishment. Breakfast is not included with every booking, and parking costs extra. We'd choose it for a practical, comfortable city break, but skip it for a small, hushed hotel with more individual character.

• Best for: first-time Stockholm visitors; business travelers using Central Station; couples wanting lake views

• Watch out for: busy breakfast and Club Lounge; some compact bathrooms; breakfast and parking can cost extra

• Location: Excellent for Central Station, Gamla Stan and City Hall; Tegelbacken's redesigned public space reopened in June 2026.

• Rooms: Refreshed Scandinavian interiors and comfortable beds; lake views depend on category, and some bathrooms are small.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across recent guest feedback and Booking.com and Expedia category ratings.

• Service: Recent guests repeatedly single out welcoming reception, concierge and breakfast staff.

• Amenities: Restaurants, cocktail bar, juice bar, 24-hour gym and sauna; Club Lounge access requires eligibility.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; parking is separately operated and charged, and pets and rollaway beds incur fees.
