#8 of 9 hotels in Södermalm by Axel's take. Södermalm is #2 of 8 places to stay in Stockholm. The best hotels in Södermalm, ranked · Where to stay in Stockholm

Axel's take: 7.8/10

Go for the location and breakfast, not the room design. a full-service 4-star overlooking Stockholm’s Old Town, scored for what it is.

Hilton Stockholm Slussen is a full-service 4-star on Södermalm, within easy walking distance of Gamla Stan and the metro. It’s a good sightseeing base rather than a particularly polished Hilton. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the breakfast, helpful staff and cleanliness; waterfront-facing rooms add a compelling reason to choose it. We’d book it for those practical strengths, not for contemporary interiors.

The trade-offs are compact entry-level rooms, recurring reports of tired furnishings, and noise in some rooms from trains, traffic or nearby nightlife. The major Slussen redevelopment remains active nearby. Owner Pandox also lists a full hotel refurbishment targeting completion in mid-2027; check the work schedule before booking. We’d skip it if fresh design or reliably quiet surroundings matter more than location.

  • Best for: first-time Stockholm sightseers; couples booking waterfront views; travelers prioritizing breakfast and transit

  • Watch out for: compact, dated entry-level rooms; room-dependent city noise; Slussen construction and planned hotel refurbishment

  • Location: Walkable Södermalm base near Gamla Stan and Slussen metro, with waterfront views from selected rooms.

  • Rooms: Small starting categories; comfort generally scores well, but dated furnishings recur in reviews.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback on Booking.com and Expedia despite occasional housekeeping complaints.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception and breakfast staff are consistent strengths across guest-review sites.

  • Amenities: Restaurant, bar, fitness center and executive lounge; breakfast is a frequent highlight.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra; breakfast inclusion varies, and refurbishment timing needs checking directly.
