#4 of 6 hotels in Kungsholmen by Axel's take. Kungsholmen is #7 of 8 places to stay in Stockholm. The best hotels in Kungsholmen, ranked · Where to stay in Stockholm

Axel's take: 8.1/10

A dependable Stockholm base, strongest on breakfast, friendly staff and transport. a large, 1960s-inspired 4-star city hotel on Kungsholmen, scored for what it is.

Clarion Hotel Amaranten is a large, 1960s-inspired 4-star on Kungsholmen, and a strong pick for a practical Stockholm city break. Rådhuset metro is next door, with Central Station roughly a 7–10-minute walk away. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the generous breakfast, helpful staff and comfortable beds. We'd choose it for those everyday strengths rather than a luxury feel.

The main compromise is the room: condition varies, with recurring reports of tired furnishings, while the smallest doubles are genuinely compact. Breakfast can also get crowded toward the weekday closing time. Check whether breakfast is included in your booking, and disregard listings promising a pool: the hotel explicitly says there isn't one, though it has a gym and sauna. We'd skip it if spacious, consistently polished rooms are your priority.

  • Best for: city-break travelers using public transport; business travelers near Central Station; travelers who prioritize a substantial breakfast

  • Watch out for: compact doubles are only 11 square meters; some rooms show wear; busy breakfast periods; no swimming pool

  • Location: Beside Rådhuset metro on Kungsholmen, approximately 7–10 minutes on foot from Central Station.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds win praise, but condition varies; Compact doubles are substantially smaller than Standard rooms.

  • Cleanliness: Generally well rated for cleanliness, although some guests describe stained or worn furnishings.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across recent guest reviews.

  • Amenities: The Social Bar & Bistro, a gym and sauna; the official website explicitly confirms no pool.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion depends on the booking; pets incur a surcharge, and the hotel is cashless.
