Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong luxury pick in Jing’an, provided renovation work won’t compromise your stay. a design-led five-star urban resort in central Jing’an, scored for what it is.

The PuLi is a design-led five-star urban resort beside Jing’an Park, and a strong choice for travelers who prefer understated interiors to palatial luxury. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious, comfortable rooms, thorough housekeeping and helpful concierge staff. The 25-meter indoor pool, spa and Long Bar give it appeal beyond its convenient shopping-and-metro location.

The main caveat is its phased renovation: the hotel’s announcement targets autumn 2026 completion, but October forum reports still raise concerns about unfinished work. Confirm construction hours, facility access and a renovated room before committing. Service feedback is overwhelmingly positive, although some guests mention uneven English communication; breakfast draws less consistent enthusiasm. We’d choose it for a stylish city break, but skip it if guaranteed daytime quiet is essential until completion is confirmed.

• Best for: design-minded couples; business travelers who use the spa and pool; Jing’an shopping and dining

• Watch out for: Confirm renovation status and room allocation; Occasional English-language communication gaps; Breakfast and parking can cost extra

• Location: Beside Jing’an Park, with Jing’an Temple metro and extensive shopping nearby.

• Rooms: Spacious and comfortable in guest feedback; confirm whether your assigned room has been renovated.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor and Expedia feedback.

• Service: Concierge help earns repeated praise, with occasional reports of English-language communication difficulties.

• Amenities: A 25-meter indoor pool, spa, gym, Long Bar and PHÉNIX restaurant; verify access during renovation.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast may be extra and parking is charged; phased renovation completion remains unconfirmed.
