#5 of 6 hotels in Lujiazui by Axel's take. Lujiazui is #7 of 8 places to stay in Shanghai. The best hotels in Lujiazui, ranked · Where to stay in Shanghai

Axel's take: 8.4/10

Choose it for skyline views and spacious comfort, not cutting-edge luxury. A landmark five-star business hotel high in Shanghai’s Jin Mao Tower, scored for what it is.

Grand Hyatt Shanghai is a five-star high-rise business hotel whose biggest draw remains its setting inside Jin Mao Tower. It’s a strong pick for Lujiazui work trips or a skyline-focused city break. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, impressive views and thorough housekeeping; breakfast also draws plenty of compliments. The indoor pool and 24-hour gym round out a substantial luxury-hotel offering.

The trade-off is age rather than a lack of comfort: dated interiors recur across Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews, while front-desk service receives less consistent praise than housekeeping. Booking.com guests also describe check-in delays. We’d choose it for space, views and Pudong convenience, but skip it if fresh contemporary interiors and consistently polished luxury service are your priorities.

  • Best for: Business travelers working in Lujiazui; Couples prioritizing skyline views; Travelers who prefer spacious, traditional rooms

  • Watch out for: Dated room styling; Uneven front-desk service; Check-in delays reported

  • Location: In Pudong’s Lujiazui business district, convenient for its towers and shopping.

  • Rooms: Spacious high-floor rooms with widely praised views, but recurring comments about dated interiors.

  • Cleanliness: A clear strength overall, with recent guests repeatedly praising meticulous housekeeping.

  • Service: Many warm staff reports, tempered by recurring front-desk and check-in frustrations.

  • Amenities: Indoor skyline-view pool, 24-hour gym and several dining venues; swimming caps are required.

  • Fees and surprises: Hyatt lists free parking; breakfast inclusion depends on the booking, and some disposable amenities require a request.
