Axel's take: 9.1/10
Standout rooms and service make this a strong Gangnam splurge, with sightseeing trade-offs. a five-star luxury high-rise in Gangnam, scored for what it is.
Josun Palace is a five-star luxury high-rise that largely earns its billing. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, sweeping city views and attentive staff; cleanliness ratings are especially strong. It’s a strong pick for a Gangnam-centered stay where the hotel itself matters as much as the itinerary. The indoor pool, substantial wellness facilities and well-regarded breakfast strengthen that case.
The main compromise is geography: this is not the easiest base for the historic sights north of the river, and guests mention inconvenient elevator changes. We’d skip it for a sightseeing-heavy first visit. Also check your dates carefully: Marriott schedules facility renovations from December 1, 2026, through mid-May 2027, warning of intermittent noise and a temporary fitness center through January; the pool and sauna are expected to remain operational.
-
Best for: luxury stays centered on Gangnam; couples prioritizing rooms and city views; travelers who will use the wellness facilities
-
Watch out for: less convenient for historic central Seoul; elevator changes between street and rooms; renovations December 2026–mid-May 2027
-
Location: A Gangnam business-district base between Yeoksam and Seolleung stations; less practical for north-of-river sightseeing.
-
Rooms: Spacious, thoughtfully equipped rooms and skyline views consistently impress recent guests.
-
Cleanliness: A major strength overall, with exceptionally high cleanliness ratings on Expedia and Booking.com.
-
Service: Recent reviews strongly favor courteous, attentive staff, including effective problem handling.
-
Amenities: Indoor pool, gym, sauna and several dining venues; Expedia lists wellness closure on each month’s first Monday.
-
Fees and surprises: Self-parking is complimentary; valet and disposable dental kits cost extra. Confirm renovation arrangements directly before booking.
