Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong airport base with roomy accommodation, but an uneven pool area. a practical 3-star near the airport, not a beach resort, scored for what it is.

This practical 3-star near Puerto Vallarta’s airport is a strong pick for a stopover or business trip, rather than a beach holiday. Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise spacious, clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Breakfast is included and generally well liked, while free parking adds everyday value. It delivers the essentials unusually well for a straightforward chain hotel.

The main compromise is location: you’re near the marina, not on the beach, and downtown outings require transport. Pool-area upkeep is the clearest recurring weakness, with Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests describing wear and maintenance issues; some also report a cold pool or malfunctioning hot tub. We’d choose it for comfortable nights and airport convenience, but skip it if pool time or walking straight into central Vallarta is the point.

• Best for: Airport stopovers; Business and convention travelers; Value-minded travelers with a car

• Watch out for: Not beachfront; transport needed downtown; Recurring pool-area maintenance complaints; Confirm airport-transfer arrangements directly

• Location: Near the airport and marina; better for practical access than a central, walk-everywhere vacation.

• Rooms: Guests consistently praise generous room sizes and comfortable beds.

• Cleanliness: A major strength across Expedia and Booking.com reviews, especially in guest rooms.

• Service: Mostly warm and helpful, with breakfast staff earning frequent praise.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym and included breakfast; IHG says no on-site restaurant and directs spa guests to its sister hotel.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and Wi-Fi are free; breakfast starts at 6:30 a.m., and airport-transfer availability needs confirmation.
