Axel's take: 6.6/10

Beachfront fun and friendly staff, but tired rooms make this a compromise. an adults-only, LGBTQ+-focused 3-star beachfront hotel, scored for what it is.

Blue Chairs is an adults-only, LGBTQ+-focused 3-star on Los Muertos Beach, better suited to social beach days than a polished resort stay. Its strongest assets are the beachfront setting, walkable Zona Romántica location and rooftop drag entertainment. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean rooms; Booking.com also rates service and location above the facilities. It’s a reasonable pick if those priorities outweigh modern interiors.

The catch is upkeep: Expedia and Tripadvisor guests describe dated furniture, worn finishes and rooms needing attention. Tripadvisor’s overall verdict is substantially harsher than the booking sites’, so expectations matter. Rooftop music can carry into bedrooms, and beach-club spending requirements have caught some guests out. We’d skip it for quiet nights or reliably well-maintained surroundings, and confirm beach-club terms before booking.

• Best for: LGBTQ+ travelers seeking a social atmosphere; Beach-and-nightlife trips; Travelers prioritizing location over polish

• Watch out for: Dated rooms and uneven maintenance; Rooftop entertainment noise; Confirm beach-club spending requirements

• Location: Directly on Los Muertos Beach, within walking distance of Zona Romántica restaurants and bars.

• Rooms: Simple rooms with air conditioning; some have ocean-view balconies, but condition varies.

• Cleanliness: Recent Expedia guests often praise clean rooms, though Tripadvisor feedback is less consistent.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, especially at the beach and restaurant.

• Amenities: Pools, beach club, restaurants, spa treatments and rooftop drag entertainment; not a polished full-service resort.

• Fees and surprises: A damage deposit is listed; breakfast inclusion varies, and Expedia restricts guestrooms to registered guests.
