Axel's take: 8.7/10

Excellent for private-pool downtime, but check renovation plans before committing. A boutique luxury pool-villa resort inland from Kamala Beach, scored for what it is.

The Bell is a boutique luxury resort of 16 private-pool villas, and it's a strong pick for families and couples who value space and privacy over beachfront bustle. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff, generous villas and generally high cleaning standards. Kitchens, gardens and meals delivered to your villa make staying in part of the appeal.

The trade-off is an inland location: Kamala Beach is roughly two kilometres away, with a scheduled shuttle rather than sand outside your door. Some guests find the dining choices limited, and occasional reports of dated kitchens and slow deliveries temper the five-star promise. More importantly, the resort's recruitment notice confirms a major phased villa renovation, with the first redesigned villa expected in November 2026. Ask which works will affect your dates and villa. We'd skip it for walk-out beach access or a lively, full-service resort atmosphere.

• Best for: Families wanting space and a private pool; Couples prioritizing privacy; Groups sharing a multi-bedroom villa

• Watch out for: Phased villa renovations; confirm disruption; Inland setting and transport dependence; Limited dining variety

• Location: Inland Kamala, roughly two kilometres from the beach; a scheduled beach shuttle is reported.

• Rooms: Spacious one- to four-bedroom villas with private pools and kitchens; some kitchens draw dated-condition complaints.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across sites, with occasional lapses rather than a dominant negative pattern.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are a consistent strength; requests use an app, with occasional delivery delays.

• Amenities: Private pools, in-villa dining, massages and arranged barbecues define the experience.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm renovation proximity; airport transfers and pet stays carry additional charges.
