#9 of 9 hotels in Chalong by Axel's take. Chalong is #6 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Chalong, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 7.0/10

A reasonable poolside base, but not the five-star beach escape its name suggests. A mid-range waterfront aparthotel in Rawai, marketed as five-star, scored for what it is.

The Beachfront is a mid-range waterfront aparthotel in Rawai rather than a convincing five-star resort. It's a reasonable pick for travelers who prioritize pool access and practical rooms over luxury polish. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and pool-access terraces; kitchenettes and larger suites add flexibility for longer stays.

The biggest catch is the waterfront: the hotel itself calls Friendship Beach tidal, and guests consistently warn it isn't a dependable swimming beach. The busy main road also makes exploring on foot awkward, so budget time for transport. Breakfast draws mixed feedback, and reports of mustiness, wear and uneven housekeeping temper the stronger reviews. We'd consider it for a transport-ready, pool-focused stay, but skip it for a walkable beach holiday or reliable five-star service.

Best for: Couples booking pool-access rooms; Longer stays with kitchenette convenience; Travelers comfortable using taxis
Watch out for: Tidal waterfront unsuitable for dependable sea swimming; Busy road and awkward walking access; Uneven upkeep and breakfast
Location: On Rawai's tidal Friendship Beach; transport is more practical than walking along the main road.
Rooms: Kitchenettes and pool-access options are useful; confirm whether a sea-view category offers only a partial view.
Cleanliness: Many recent guests praise clean rooms, though mustiness and housekeeping complaints make consistency a concern.
Service: Helpful staff earn frequent praise, but problem handling does not consistently meet five-star expectations.
Amenities: Outdoor pools, gym, restaurant, beach bar and free parking; breakfast feedback is mixed.
Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a nightly accommodation deposit and charges for late checkout and rollaway beds; confirm terms before arrival.
