#4 of 9 hotels in Kamala by Axel's take. Kamala is #7 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Kamala, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong beachfront choice for relaxed adults, with friendly service outweighing dated rooms. A large, adults-only 4-star resort directly on Kamala Beach, scored for what it is.

Sunprime Kamala Beach is a large, adults-only 4-star resort that gets the beach-holiday basics right. We'd pick it for direct access to Kamala's sand, four outdoor pools and consistently well-reviewed staff rather than fashionable interiors. Recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the housekeeping, spacious rooms and welcoming service. Restaurants and massage shops nearby make it easy to spend a week without relying on taxis.

The trade-off is polish: guests across several sites describe some furniture and bathrooms as dated, even when they enjoyed the stay overall. Reports of sunbed availability vary, with some mentioning reservations and competition at busy times. This is a substantial resort, not an intimate hideaway. We'd skip it for boutique style or a nightlife-focused trip; for couples wanting easy beach days, it's a very good fit.

Best for: Couples wanting relaxed beach days; Adults who enjoy large resort facilities; Longer stays near local restaurants
Watch out for: Some dated furniture and bathrooms; Sunbed competition at busy times; Large-resort rather than boutique atmosphere
Location: Directly on Kamala Beach, with village dining and shops within walking distance; not in Phuket Town.
Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable, but recent guests still flag dated furnishings and uneven bathroom condition.
Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings and repeated housekeeping praise outweigh isolated complaints.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the clearest strength across recent reviews.
Amenities: Four outdoor pools, two swim-up bars, two restaurants, a gym and fitness activities.
Fees and surprises: Airport transfers and late checkout cost extra; check whether breakfast is included.
