#4 of 9 hotels in Chalong by Axel's take. Chalong is #6 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Chalong, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong budget base with a good pool, provided you plan for transport. a simple budget hotel with a pool in residential Chalong, scored for what it is.

Big Buddha Hillside is a simple budget hotel in residential Chalong, not a beach resort. It's a strong pick for travelers who want a quiet base and good bang for their buck. Booking.com guests praise cleanliness, responsive staff and the pool; Expedia's February 2026 guest echoes those strengths. Air-conditioned rooms with balconies and refrigerators cover the practical basics well.

The main compromise is location: beaches and major sights generally mean a drive, rather than stepping outside into Phuket's holiday bustle. Recent Trip.com feedback is mostly positive, though housekeeping detail gets some criticism. Reception also has limited hours despite some listings advertising round-the-clock service, so arrange evening arrivals ahead. We'd skip it for a walkable beach holiday or full-service hotel experience; for an independent Chalong stay, it makes sense.

  • Best for: budget travelers with transport; longer stays in Chalong; couples seeking a quiet base

  • Watch out for: transport needed for beach days; limited reception hours; no elevator

  • Location: Residential Chalong rather than beachfront; a vehicle or taxis make exploring easier.

  • Rooms: Simple rooms with air conditioning, balconies and refrigerators; pool-view and garden-view options.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, with a few recent complaints about missed housekeeping details.

  • Service: Helpfulness earns repeated praise, but reception is not reliably staffed around the clock.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, children's pool, free Wi-Fi and free parking; Trip.com lists no breakfast.

  • Fees and surprises: Arrange late arrival directly; upper floors require stairs, and an incidental deposit may be requested.
