#6 of 9 hotels in Patong by Axel's take. Patong is #1 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Patong, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong pick for sea views and warm service, with hillside logistics to consider. a five-star hillside seafront resort at Patong’s quieter southern end, scored for what it is.

Amari Phuket is a five-star hillside resort at Patong’s southern end, and we’d choose it for bay views and breathing space rather than cutting-edge luxury. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, generous breakfasts and generally clean accommodation. It’s a strong option for couples and families who want access to Patong without staying amid its busiest streets.

The compromises are practical: steep paths and steps, reliance on buggies for some rooms, and occasional waits. Several guests also describe dated rooms, so expect comfortable resort accommodation rather than consistently polished five-star interiors. The rocky shoreline is better for scenery than easy swimming, and the Club Pakarang pool is reserved for Club-category guests. We’d skip it for step-free convenience or a sandy swimming beach directly outside.

Best for: couples wanting sea views near Patong; families seeking suites and resort facilities; travelers prioritizing friendly service
Watch out for: steep paths, steps and occasional buggy waits; some dated rooms; rocky shoreline rather than an easy swimming beach
Location: Quieter southern Patong setting; a scheduled complimentary shuttle serves central Patong.
Rooms: Room category matters: guests praise the views and suites, but dated interiors recur in feedback.
Cleanliness: Generally strong, with Expedia rating cleanliness 9.0/10; occasional upkeep complaints are not the dominant picture.
Service: Warm, attentive staff are the clearest recurring strength across recent guest reviews.
Amenities: Pools, spa, gym and kids’ club; Club pool access is restricted, and The Jetty closes during rainy season.
Fees and surprises: On-site food and drinks attract price complaints; confirm breakfast and lounge inclusions for your exact room category.
