Axel's take: 7.8/10

A sensible east-end base with free parking, helpful staff and some maintenance niggles. a practical, full-service 3-star in Ottawa’s east end, scored for what it is.

This full-service 3-star is a good fit for drivers and families who want straightforward comfort rather than a downtown address. Free parking, nearby St. Laurent shopping and access to the LRT make it a practical base. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms. The indoor pool, gym and Myra’s Bar and Kitchen round out a useful package for its class.

The trade-off is uneven upkeep: reviews mention aging bathrooms, noisy air-conditioning and occasional elevator problems, although positive stays remain the larger picture. Breakfast is not automatically included, so check your booking. Visiting sports teams can also make the hotel lively. We’d choose it for east-end business or a family stopover, but skip it for a quiet retreat or sightseeing entirely on foot.

• Best for: families traveling by car; east-end business stays; travelers wanting free parking

• Watch out for: uneven bathroom and equipment upkeep; air-conditioning and group noise; breakfast inclusion varies by booking

• Location: Near Highway 417, St. Laurent Centre and the LRT; downtown sightseeing requires a journey.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and spacious, with some reports of dated bathrooms and noisy air-conditioning.

• Cleanliness: Recent feedback is predominantly positive, despite occasional reports of musty smells.

• Service: Helpful, responsive staff earn repeated praise across Tripadvisor and Expedia.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, fitness centre, free Wi-Fi and Myra’s Bar and Kitchen.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free; pets incur a fee, and breakfast is not included with every booking.
