Axel's take: 7.3/10

A useful sightseeing base, but the location outshines the rooms. A straightforward 3-star hotel on Gatineau’s riverfront, scored for what it is.

This straightforward 3-star sits in Hull, on the Gatineau side of the Ottawa River, near the Canadian Museum of History and Jacques-Cartier Park. It’s a good pick for practical sightseeing rather than a hotel-centered getaway. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, and river-view rooms are worth considering. An indoor saltwater pool and gym round out a useful mid-range offering.

The compromise is an aging interior: dated décor comes up across sites, while several recent Trip.com guests flag worn or dirty carpets and housekeeping that needs requesting. That sits alongside broadly positive cleanliness ratings, rather than evidence of uniformly poor upkeep. Parking can be tight, and published policies disagree about whether it costs extra, so confirm your booking’s inclusion. Breakfast generally costs extra. We’d skip it if fresh interiors or being in downtown Ottawa itself matter most.

• Best for: Museum and riverfront sightseeing; Budget-conscious couples; Families wanting an indoor pool

• Watch out for: Dated rooms and worn carpets; Limited parking; confirm inclusion; Housekeeping may need requesting

• Location: In Hull near the history museum and riverfront parks, across the river from central Ottawa.

• Rooms: Functional but aging; selected rooms have river views and balconies.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive ratings, tempered by several recent complaints about carpets.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength; housekeeping follow-through is less consistent.

• Amenities: Indoor saltwater pool, gym and free Wi-Fi; breakfast available for an extra charge.

• Fees and surprises: Parking information conflicts across official pages; confirm inclusion and expect a credit-card incidental hold.
