#6 of 9 hotels in Downtown & Parliament Hill by Axel's take. Downtown & Parliament Hill is #1 of 6 places to stay in Ottawa. The best hotels in Downtown & Parliament Hill, ranked · Where to stay in Ottawa

Axel's take: 8.0/10

A strong downtown base for friendly service, not a full luxury experience. A compact downtown 4-star boutique hotel, scored for what it is.

Arc is a compact 4-star boutique hotel that makes more sense as a comfortable Ottawa base than a luxury escape. We'd pick it for sightseeing or a short business trip: Parliament Hill, the canal and transit are within walking distance. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds; Booking.com guests reinforce that picture. It's a strong choice if you'll spend more time exploring than lounging in your room.

The trade-offs are room size and polish. The Intimate Queen can feel cramped and dim, while some guests say the décor and amenities need updating. Parking costs extra, spaces are limited, and the hotel's stated garage clearance is just 5 feet 8 inches. Booking.com also lists a resort fee, so check what's included. We'd skip it for a spacious, freshly updated luxury stay.

  • Best for: Sightseers exploring downtown on foot; Short business stays; Couples prioritizing service over space

  • Watch out for: Small, dim entry-level rooms; Limited paid parking with low clearance; Check resort-fee inclusion

  • Location: Walkable to Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal and Parliament Station.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds are a strength; entry-level queens are compact, and some guests flag tired décor.

  • Cleanliness: Consistently positive recent feedback across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Booking.com.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are the clearest recurring highlight.

  • Amenities: Restaurant and lounge, fitness centre, free Wi-Fi and in-room mini-fridges.

  • Fees and surprises: Paid, first-come parking has a 5-foot-8-inch clearance; Booking.com lists a resort fee and refundable damage deposit.
