Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong practical pick for river views, casino access and useful included extras. a riverside 3-star connected to Ameristar Casino in Council Bluffs, scored for what it is.

This riverside 3-star is in Council Bluffs, Iowa, across from Omaha—not downtown Omaha itself. We'd pick it for comfortable basics and useful extras: free hot breakfast, parking, an indoor pool and a complimentary airport and local shuttle. The enclosed connection to Ameristar makes casino visits easy. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and breakfast; a river-view room is worth requesting.

The trade-off is an older building with some upkeep issues. Recent reviews include air-conditioning problems and uneven front-desk attention, although the overall service picture remains positive. Management confirmed a corridor refresh in July 2026; its current status isn't clear, so check before booking if disruption matters. It's a strong fit for casino weekends and families exploring by car or shuttle. We'd skip it for a polished, walk-everywhere Omaha city break.

  • Best for: casino weekends; families visiting Omaha attractions; road-trippers wanting included extras

  • Watch out for: not in downtown Omaha; occasional maintenance and front-desk issues; confirm corridor-refresh status

  • Location: On the Missouri River in Council Bluffs, connected to Ameristar; Omaha sightseeing requires transportation.

  • Rooms: Generally comfortable, with river-view options; some recent guests report air-conditioning or upkeep problems.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback, despite occasional exceptions.

  • Service: Usually helpful, but several recent guests describe inattentive front-desk interactions.

  • Amenities: Free hot breakfast, indoor pool, whirlpool, gym, Wi-Fi and airport/local shuttle; arrange shuttle trips with reception.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is free; IHG now allows dogs and cats for a per-stay fee, despite conflicting booking-site listings.
