Axel's take: 7.9/10

Friendly service and comfortable rooms make this a practical stop, but interiors need attention. a full-service mid-range chain hotel off I-80, scored for what it is.

This is a full-service mid-range DoubleTree off I-80, not a luxury four-star retreat. We'd choose it for a road-trip stop or an Omaha visit with a car: parking is free, downtown is roughly 15 minutes away, and there's an indoor pool and restaurant. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and generally clean rooms; Vida's food and service earn particular enthusiasm.

The trade-off is uneven upkeep. Across review sites, guests mention dated decor, stained carpets and occasional unresolved hot-water problems, although many recent stays are trouble-free. Breakfast isn't automatically included. Check routes around the nearby 72nd and L Street reconstruction, scheduled through fall 2026. It's a good practical base, but we'd skip it for polished interiors or a walkable downtown weekend.

• Best for: road-trippers; business travelers with a car; families visiting the zoo

• Watch out for: dated interiors and stained carpets in some rooms; occasional hot-water problems; 72nd and L Street roadworks

• Location: Convenient to I-80; better for driving than downtown sightseeing on foot.

• Rooms: Often spacious and comfortable, but condition varies and some carpets need replacing.

• Cleanliness: Broadly positive recent feedback, with recurring carpet complaints and some cleaning lapses.

• Service: Friendly front-desk and restaurant staff are consistent strengths; problem handling varies.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, fitness center, free Wi-Fi and Vida restaurant; recent guests confirm pool use.

• Fees and surprises: Free self-parking; breakfast may cost extra and pets incur a fee.
