Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong business-class choice, with standout staff and breakfast rather than boutique character. A contemporary 5-star business and conference hotel in Upper Hill, scored for what it is.

Radisson Blu Upper Hill is a contemporary 5-star business hotel that gets the important things right: spacious, comfortable rooms, strong cleanliness and genuinely helpful staff. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the service and breakfast, while recent Tripadvisor feedback reinforces its strength as a meeting venue. We'd pick it for an Upper Hill work trip or a comfortable city stop with restaurants, a spa and a heated outdoor pool on hand.

The trade-off is a corporate atmosphere rather than an intimate Nairobi retreat. Some Tripadvisor guests flag expensive dining, and one detailed recent review reports road noise and muddled arrangements for transfers and late checkout; those are cautions, not the dominant picture. Light sleepers should request a room away from the road and reconfirm special arrangements. We'd skip it if boutique character matters more than full-service convenience.

• Best for: Upper Hill business travelers; Conference delegates; Travelers wanting full-service comfort

• Watch out for: Possible road noise in front-facing rooms; Expensive hotel dining; Reconfirm transfers and late checkout

• Location: Well placed for Upper Hill business appointments; allow for Nairobi traffic when planning journeys.

• Rooms: Spacious and comfortable, with skyline or park-facing options; request a quieter position if sensitive to noise.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com ratings and recent Expedia guest feedback.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise, with occasional coordination lapses rather than a broad service problem.

• Amenities: Heated outdoor pool, spa, sauna, steam room, 24-hour gym, multiple dining venues and substantial meeting facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion depends on the booking; transfers and early or late checkout cost extra. Expedia lists a seasonal pool closure December 21–February 1; confirm directly.
