#9 of 9 hotels in Karen by Axel's take. Karen is #5 of 8 places to stay in Nairobi. The best hotels in Karen, ranked · Where to stay in Nairobi

Axel's take: 6.5/10

Useful for Karen sightseeing, but service and facilities need checking before you book. a simple independent 3-star garden hotel on Nairobi’s Karen side, scored for what it is.

Park Place is a simple independent 3-star garden hotel on Magadi Road, better suited to Karen-area sightseeing than downtown Nairobi. We’d consider it for a short, practical stay, not a reliably polished one. Tripadvisor’s 2025 guests praise welcoming staff, food and clean rooms; Booking.com reviews reproduced on Planet of Hotels also include positive reports about room space and comfort. Gardens, an outdoor pool and free parking add appeal.

Consistency is the catch. Recent accounts include an unavailable booked room, disappointing meal service and a hot-water failure, alongside happier stays. Expedia lists a 2026 remodel, but there is little guest evidence establishing the result, and its listings still warn about neighboring construction noise. Confirm your room category, hot water and pool access directly. We’d skip it if dependable service or guaranteed quiet matters more than the location.

  • Best for: short Karen-area sightseeing stays; travelers with their own transport

  • Watch out for: uneven dining and reservation handling; neighboring construction warning; confirm pool access and room readiness

  • Location: On Magadi Road near Karen attractions; the hotel puts central Nairobi roughly ten kilometres away.

  • Rooms: Some 2025 guests describe spacious, comfortable rooms; room allocation and hot water warrant confirmation.

  • Cleanliness: Several newer accounts praise clean rooms, a more encouraging signal than the older negative reviews.

  • Service: Warm staff receive praise, but recent reviews also describe slow meals and unsatisfactory problem handling.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, gardens, dining, free Wi-Fi and parking are listed; verify operating facilities before arrival.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast and airport transfers can cost extra; Expedia also lists possible towel charges and neighboring construction.
