#3 of 9 hotels in Nairobi CBD by Axel's take. Nairobi CBD is #3 of 8 places to stay in Nairobi. The best hotels in Nairobi CBD, ranked · Where to stay in Nairobi
Axel's take: 8.6/10
Choose it for gracious service and garden calm, not cutting-edge luxury. a historic 5-star city hotel with garden grounds in central Nairobi, scored for what it is.
Fairmont The Norfolk is a historic 5-star in central Nairobi whose strongest luxury is its hospitality rather than its hardware. We'd choose it for a comfortable pause before or after safari: leafy courtyards, a heated outdoor pool and character that newer business hotels lack. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, while breakfast, clean rooms and peaceful grounds earn consistent approval.
The qualification is room condition. Many guests find the accommodation spacious and comfortable, but recent Accor and Expedia reviews also describe ageing furnishings and occasional air-conditioning problems. Some Accor guests report slow meal service, and patchy internet appears elsewhere. These aren't the dominant experience, but they matter at this level. It's a strong pick for travelers who value history and personal attention; we'd skip it if freshly updated rooms and seamless efficiency are non-negotiable.
-
