Axel's take

a dated 3-star oceanfront condo-style resort

6.8/10

Beachfront space and breakfast appeal, but upkeep makes this a conditional pick.

Monterey Bay Suites is a dated, 3-star oceanfront condo-style resort that makes sense for families prioritizing beach access and practical space over polish. Every suite has a full kitchen and private balcony, and hot breakfast is included. The hotel advertises indoor, outdoor and rooftop pools, plus a lazy river. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the breakfast staff, ocean views and family-friendly setup.

The compromise is inconsistent upkeep, not simply old-fashioned decor. Recent guests across Tripadvisor and Expedia describe worn furnishings, uneven cleaning and maintenance problems, alongside plenty of clean, comfortable stays. The tight, steep parking garage and slow elevators are recurring frustrations. We'd consider it for a budget-conscious beach trip, but skip it if dependable housekeeping and fresh interiors matter most. Confirm the lazy river and hot tubs are operating; some summer 2026 guests encountered closures.

Best for

Budget-conscious beach families
Travelers wanting a full kitchen

Watch out for

Uneven cleaning and maintenance
Tight garage and elevator waits
Confirm water-feature availability

Location: Direct beachfront on Myrtle Beach's quieter north end; central attractions require a drive.
Rooms: Full kitchens and private balconies are useful; condition varies, and ocean-view does not mean oceanfront.
Cleanliness: Many clean-room reports, but repeated recent complaints about stained linens and insufficient cleaning undermine consistency.
Service: Friendly front-desk and breakfast teams earn frequent praise; problem handling is less consistent.
Amenities: Breakfast, multiple pools, lazy river and cardio center; past hot-tub and lazy-river closures warrant checking ahead.
Fees and surprises: One free parking space per reservation; oversized parking is limited, a refundable security deposit is required, and damage protection is optional and nonrefundable.

Next: choose the Sign up free to book link on the stay that fits. Open it with browser control, or share it with the traveler. It opens Axel on Monterey Bay Suites for those dates: a signed-in traveler goes straight into the conversation. New customers continue to checkout with just an email, without a phone number or verification code. Existing customers sign in to their account; email sign-in uses a code. For other dates, give them this link to check Monterey Bay Suites; Axel asks for dates. To prepare a stay the traveler only has to pay for, open live rooms and rates at Monterey Bay Suites. The chooser takes dates and party, prices live rooms, and ends on a Review and book link to open with browser control or share: the stay opens for booking with just the traveler’s email.
Every link here is complete and ready to open. Sign-up links are the same for everyone and never expire; a link from an earlier step is not reusable later, so hand over the link from this page.
If a link can no longer be opened: search for "Axel Monterey Bay Suites rates, Myrtle Beach" and open the result; the Flight search guide is always findable by search, and this page works without an account, API key or connector. Or ask the traveler to open https://helloaxel.com/en/hotels/myrtle-beach/monterey-bay-suites-1268344; an address the traveler opens always works.
Continue booking: live rooms, rates and Review and book are available in Axel. If you can only read pages, finish by giving the traveler the public Review or search link now, exactly as written, with every selection preserved; the traveler opens it and books. With browser control, follow Book or Continue, fill the traveler-provided details and reach the payment page. Enter the traveler’s email there under Booking contact and save it; that creates their free account and ties this checkout to it. Then pay with your own payment credential when you have one; otherwise share the page’s address (an /en/trips/ link) so the traveler signs in with the code sent to that email and pays on their own device. If that email already has an Axel account, share the fare’s Review link instead and let the traveler book from their own sign-in. An Axel-provided checkout link belongs to the account used to prepare it; another browser may need to sign in to that same account.
