#2 of 9 hotels in Schwabing by Axel's take. Schwabing is #7 of 9 places to stay in Munich. The best hotels in Schwabing, ranked · Where to stay in Munich

Axel's take: 8.5/10

A comfortable Schwabing base, provided you don't need the old town outside your door. a modern upscale business hotel in northern Schwabing, scored for what it is.

Steigenberger München is a modern upscale business hotel that delivers on comfort rather than old-world Munich charm. It's a strong pick for well-equipped rooms, a substantial breakfast and time in the sauna after sightseeing. Recent Booking.com, Expedia and HolidayCheck guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, comfortable rooms and helpful staff; the overall picture is reassuringly positive. The Bavarian beer selection gives the bar some personality, too.

The main compromise is location: this is northern Schwabing, not the historic center, so expect to use public transport. Breakfast and garage parking can feel expensive, and occasional reports of slow check-in or missed requests temper the otherwise strong service feedback. We'd choose it for business trips or a comfortable, transit-connected city break; skip it if walking straight into old-town sights is your priority.

Best for: business travelers; city-break visitors comfortable using transit; travelers who appreciate a sauna
Watch out for: outside the historic center; breakfast and parking add up; occasional service inconsistencies
Location: Northern Schwabing; guests report roughly eight to ten minutes on foot to the U-Bahn, with trams closer.
Rooms: Standard rooms are 24–29 square meters, with wood floors, coffee machines, rain showers and heated bathroom floors.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback, supported by strong cleanliness ratings on Booking.com and Expedia.
Service: Generally friendly and helpful, with scattered complaints about check-in delays and requests not being fulfilled.
Amenities: Restaurant, beer-focused bar, terraces, gym and a sauna-and-steam wellness area.
Fees and surprises: Garage parking costs extra; check whether breakfast is included, and expect a supplement for pets.
