Spacious rooms and genuinely warm service make this a strong Munich luxury pick. a contemporary 5-star luxury hotel beside Munich’s Old Botanical Garden, scored for what it is.

The Charles is a contemporary 5-star beside the Old Botanical Garden, and a strong pick for luxury that prioritizes comfort over ceremony. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and recent Expedia guests consistently praise spacious rooms, excellent cleanliness and welcoming staff. Rooms start at a generous 40 square metres, while the indoor pool and spa add substance to the luxury billing. The hotel completed its ground-floor makeover in May 2025, refreshing the lobby and introducing redesigned dining and bar spaces.

The trade-offs are modest but worth knowing. You’re near the main station rather than right in the old-town bustle, and both Tripadvisor and Expedia guests report occasional slow breakfast service. Check whether breakfast is included; parking also costs extra. We’d choose it for space, attentive hospitality and easy train connections, but look elsewhere if stepping straight into Munich’s historic centre matters most.

• Best for: luxury travelers who prioritize spacious rooms; families booking connecting rooms; city breaks with train excursions

• Watch out for: occasional slow breakfast service; not directly in the old-town core; breakfast and parking can cost extra

• Location: Beside the Old Botanical Garden, close to the main station; the old town is a walk away.

• Rooms: Generous rooms starting at 40 square metres, with large bathrooms; connecting family categories available.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest-review sites, including recent Expedia stays.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff attract strong praise; breakfast service occasionally falls short.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, spa, gym, Florio restaurant and terrace, plus Circle Bar.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; valet parking is extra. The ground-floor renovation finished in May 2025.
