Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong longer-stay base, with useful kitchens and breakfast worth getting up for. a mid-range apartment-style hotel near Munich Ostbahnhof, scored for what it is.

This mid-range apartment-style hotel in Haidhausen is a strong pick for travelers who want space and practical comforts rather than luxury. Studios have kitchens and living areas, breakfast is included, and Ostbahnhof is a short walk away. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the helpful reception team, comfortable rooms and generous breakfast. We'd particularly consider it for longer stays or families who will actually use the kitchen.

The trade-off is that you're outside the old-town sightseeing core, so expect to use public transport. Cleanliness ratings are strong overall, though some recent Tripadvisor guests flag uneven housekeeping. Marriott lists cleaning twice weekly, not daily—worth knowing before arrival. Parking and pets cost extra. We'd skip it if daily servicing or stepping straight into Munich's historic center matters more than room space.

• Best for: families wanting kitchen facilities; longer stays; travelers comfortable using public transport

• Watch out for: housekeeping scheduled twice weekly; outside the old-town sightseeing core; parking and pet charges

• Location: Haidhausen base a short walk from Ostbahnhof; convenient for transit rather than doorstep old-town sightseeing.

• Rooms: Air-conditioned studios with kitchens, desks and living areas; guests frequently praise their space and comfort.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings, tempered by some recent complaints about housekeeping thoroughness.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming reception staff are a consistent strength across recent guest reviews.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, fitness room, guest laundry, children's corner and a round-the-clock lobby market.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and pets incur charges; Marriott specifies housekeeping twice weekly.
