Axel's take: 8.5/10

A comfortable, well-run station base, though major construction detracts from the setting. a modern 4-star high-rise opposite Munich’s main station, scored for what it is.

NH Collection München Bavaria is a modern 4-star high-rise that makes particular sense for train arrivals and day trips. It’s a strong pick for comfort and convenience rather than neighborhood charm. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds, helpful staff and the extensive breakfast buffet. Booking.com feedback broadly agrees, and upper-floor city views add appeal.

The main compromise is outside: major Hauptbahnhof reconstruction is ongoing, including work around the northern forecourt on Arnulfstraße. Guests describe a busy, sometimes unappealing station setting, although many find their rooms surprisingly quiet. Some rooms and bathrooms are compact, so check the category rather than assuming generous space. We’d choose it for a practical Munich break, but skip it for a peaceful, picturesque doorstep.

• Best for: train arrivals and rail day trips; business travelers; sightseers prioritizing transport links

• Watch out for: major Hauptbahnhof construction nearby; busy station surroundings; some compact rooms and bathrooms

• Location: Excellent rail, tram and subway access; Marienplatz is roughly a 15–20-minute walk.

• Rooms: Comfortable contemporary rooms, often quiet despite the traffic; sizes vary and higher floors offer views.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall, with consistent recent praise across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Booking.com.

• Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring strength in recent guest feedback.

• Amenities: Gym, free Wi-Fi, restaurant, bar and a widely praised breakfast buffet.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is paid and off-site; breakfast inclusion depends on the booking, and pets incur an extra charge.
