#8 of 9 hotels in Haidhausen & Au by Axel's take. Haidhausen & Au is #4 of 9 places to stay in Munich. The best hotels in Haidhausen & Au, ranked · Where to stay in Munich

Axel's take: 8.1/10

A comfortable, well-connected base, with nearby construction the main catch. a modern, mid-range business hotel near Munich’s Ostbahnhof, scored for what it is.

Courtyard Munich City East is a modern, mid-range business hotel in Haidhausen: a strong pick for comfortable rooms and useful transport connections rather than old-town atmosphere. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, comfortable beds, helpful staff and the breakfast selection. Expedia lists a 2024 remodel, and the overall picture is of a well-kept, practical base. Ostbahnhof is roughly an eight-minute walk away, not directly outside the door.

The important catch is nearby construction for Munich’s second S-Bahn trunk line around Haidenauplatz. The city confirms continuing disruption, with further road closures and replacement buses scheduled for October 27–November 17, 2026. Breakfast and parking cost extra unless included in your booking. We’d choose it for business or transit-based sightseeing; skip it if you want historic surroundings or minimal construction disruption.

Best for: business travelers; sightseers happy using public transport; travelers prioritizing clean, comfortable rooms
Watch out for: nearby S-Bahn construction and transport diversions; breakfast and parking charged separately; not an old-town location
Location: Haidhausen base roughly eight minutes’ walk from Ostbahnhof, with nearby tram connections.
Rooms: Comfortable beds and good room sizes draw praise; Expedia lists a 2024 remodel.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com and Expedia guest feedback.
Service: Guests commonly praise friendly, helpful reception staff.
Amenities: Restaurant and bar, fitness room, terrace and a 24-hour snack market; no airport shuttle.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast, parking and pets incur charges; nearby Haidenauplatz construction affects local access.
