#3 of 9 hotels in Paseo de Montejo by Axel's take. Paseo de Montejo is #4 of 7 places to stay in Merida. The best hotels in Paseo de Montejo, ranked · Where to stay in Merida

Axel's take: 8.4/10

Friendly service and excellent breakfasts make this older hotel a strong practical choice. an older, full-service mid-range hotel near Paseo de Montejo, scored for what it is.

Holiday Inn Mérida is an older, full-service mid-range hotel near Paseo de Montejo, and a strong pick for straightforward comfort rather than boutique style. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, comfortable rooms and generous breakfast buffet, including local dishes. The courtyard pool and free parking add practical appeal for families and travelers exploring by car.

The main compromise is the aging building. Tripadvisor guests describe tired bathrooms, while some recent Expedia reviews mention musty smells and plumbing or cooling problems; these sit alongside much more widespread praise for cleanliness. Breakfast costs extra unless included in your booking. We'd choose it for service, space and useful facilities, but skip it if fresh interiors or being right beside Plaza Grande matter most.

  • Best for: families wanting a pool; travelers exploring by car; business travelers near Paseo de Montejo

  • Watch out for: aging bathrooms and occasional maintenance issues; some reports of musty rooms; breakfast not automatically included

  • Location: Near Paseo de Montejo and the convention center, rather than directly beside Plaza Grande.

  • Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable, but dated bathrooms and occasional cooling or plumbing faults temper the appeal.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall guest feedback, with occasional recent complaints about smells and cleaning.

  • Service: Friendly, attentive staff are among the most consistent strengths across review sites.

  • Amenities: Outdoor and children's pools, gym, restaurants, free Wi-Fi and complimentary guest parking; no airport shuttle.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast is extra unless included; breakfast-inclusive bookings cover up to two adults, and pets incur additional charges.
