Axel's take: 7.4/10

A practical budget stop for bus travelers, with some rough edges. a no-frills 3-star opposite Mérida’s ADO bus terminal, scored for what it is.

Hotel Central Merida by Kavia is a no-frills 3-star whose biggest selling point is the ADO bus terminal across the street. It’s a good-value choice for a short stop, with Plaza Grande roughly 15 minutes away on foot. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and the convenient location. The hotel confirms air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a staffed reception around the clock.

The trade-off is uneven execution rather than missing luxury. Some recent guests report maintenance issues or unhelpful service, although plenty describe friendly staff and straightforward stays. Tripadvisor guests have repeatedly reported confusion over prepaid breakfasts: confirm inclusion and collect any required vouchers. There’s no elevator or on-site parking. We’d skip it if step-free access, polished service or a more atmospheric neighborhood matters more than bus connections.

• Best for: ADO bus travelers; budget-conscious short stays; sightseers comfortable walking

• Watch out for: No elevator or on-site parking; Confirm breakfast inclusion and vouchers; Uneven maintenance and service

• Location: Opposite the ADO terminal; roughly a 15-minute walk to Plaza Grande.

• Rooms: Simple king or twin-double rooms; comfort earns praise, but maintenance reports vary.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive feedback, with occasional recent complaints about odors and bathroom cleanliness.

• Service: Many guests praise helpful staff; others report poor problem handling.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, breakfast service, luggage storage and 24-hour reception.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast is not included in every booking; confirm vouchers. No elevator or on-site parking.
