Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong El Poblado base for comfortable rooms, shopping and rooftop swims. a modern upper-midrange business hotel in El Poblado, scored for what it is.

Estelar Square is a modern upper-midrange business hotel in El Poblado, and a strong pick for comfort without luxury-hotel fuss. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; breakfast also earns plenty of compliments. Santafé and Oviedo shopping centers are close by, while the heated rooftop pool and city views give it an edge over a straightforward business stay.

The trade-offs are worth knowing. Some Tripadvisor guests describe a crowded breakfast room and slow restaurant service. More importantly, the hotel advertises an adults-only pool party on Saturday afternoons, so the rooftop is not always a quiet retreat or available to children. We'd choose it for business trips or a shopping-friendly couples' stay, but skip it if peaceful family pool time is the priority.

• Best for: business travelers; couples who enjoy rooftop pools; shopping-focused city breaks

• Watch out for: Saturday afternoon adults-only pool party; breakfast crowding and occasional slow service; parking and airport transfers cost extra

• Location: Near Santafé and Oviedo malls; convenient for shopping rather than being right in the nightlife hub.

• Rooms: Modern, comfortable rooms; beds and city views receive frequent praise.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Generally friendly and helpful, with some complaints about restaurant speed.

• Amenities: Heated rooftop pool, sky bar, gym, spa and sauna; Saturday pool access becomes adults-only.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists paid parking and transfers; pets cost extra, and children's breakfast may be excluded.
