Good-value suites and breakfast, with dated rooms and construction noise to weigh. A simple, budget-friendly suite hotel in San José del Cabo’s hotel zone, scored for what it is.

Santa Maria del Cabo is a simple, budget-friendly suite hotel rather than a beachfront resort. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want room to spread out without paying for resort extras. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and the included hot breakfast. Nearby La Comer makes stocking up easy, while the outdoor pool adds appeal between outings. The beach is a walk away, not on the doorstep.

The trade-offs are dated finishes and uneven upkeep. Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly mention missing kitchenware; several Booking.com reviews also flag shower problems. Expedia currently warns of construction at a neighboring building, so confirm the noise situation before booking. There’s no elevator. We’d skip it for a polished resort holiday, but consider it good value as a practical base.

• Best for: Budget-conscious couples; Short stays in San José; Independent travelers wanting extra space

• Watch out for: Neighboring construction may cause noise; Kitchenettes may lack utensils; No elevator

• Location: Convenient for La Comer and restaurants; beach access requires a walk.

• Rooms: Spacious but dated; confirm kitchenware, and expect occasional shower-maintenance issues.

• Cleanliness: Recent feedback is predominantly positive about room cleanliness.

• Service: Staff usually earn praise, though some guests report weak management follow-through.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, included breakfast, restaurant and spa services; not a full-service resort.

• Fees and surprises: Construction warning remains listed; dogs are allowed in selected rooms with fees and a deposit.
