Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong-value base with standout breakfast, rather than a beachfront resort. a straightforward 3-star near the beach in San José del Cabo, scored for what it is.

Hyatt Place Los Cabos is a straightforward 3-star for travelers who want to explore rather than stay inside a resort. It's a strong pick for the money: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff and a breakfast buffet that comfortably exceeds basic chain-hotel expectations. Beach access, supermarkets and dining options are within walking distance.

The trade-offs are the roadside setting and a small outdoor pool, not a sprawling resort setup. Traffic noise bothers some guests, so request a room away from Highway 1. Earlier reviews describe disruptive roadworks; the nearby Fonatur underpass opened on May 25, 2026, so those complaints shouldn't automatically describe today's stay. We'd skip it for a beachfront vacation, but choose it for an independent trip or a practical stop before flying home.

• Best for: value-minded independent travelers; families who prioritize breakfast and clean rooms; short stays before or after flights

• Watch out for: traffic noise near Highway 1; small pool rather than resort grounds; near the beach, not beachfront

• Location: Walkable beach access, groceries and restaurants in San José del Cabo's hotel zone.

• Rooms: Comfortable, practical rooms; guests often praise the space, but road-facing rooms can be noisy.

• Cleanliness: Consistently strong praise across recent Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength across review sites.

• Amenities: Free breakfast, outdoor pool, 24-hour gym, Wi-Fi and on-site dining; not an all-inclusive resort.

• Fees and surprises: Pets incur fees; parking-charge information conflicts across sources, so confirm directly.
