Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong-value downtown base, provided you choose your room carefully. A simple, family-run 3-star in San José del Cabo’s historic center, scored for what it is.

Hotel Colli is a simple, family-run 3-star for exploring San José del Cabo rather than staying inside a resort. Its biggest advantage is the location: the main plaza, galleries and restaurants are practically outside the door. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff. The leafy courtyard and free covered parking add appeal, making this a strong pick for travelers who prioritize town life and value over extensive facilities.

The main compromise is noise. Street-facing rooms draw recurring complaints about traffic and late-night music, including a nearby club; courtyard-facing rooms get better reports for quiet. Request one, but don’t assume silence is guaranteed. There’s also no elevator, and parking is limited. We’d skip it if uninterrupted sleep, step-free access or a beachfront setting is essential.

• Best for: Value-minded couples and solo travelers; Art Walk and restaurant exploring; Short stays in the historic center

• Watch out for: Traffic and late-night music in street-facing rooms; No elevator; Limited on-site parking

• Location: Steps from the main plaza and Art District; a town base, not a beachfront hotel.

• Rooms: Comfortable air-conditioned rooms; layouts and kitchen facilities vary, so check the room category.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews and major booking-site ratings.

• Service: Usually praised as friendly and helpful, though problem handling receives occasional criticism.

• Amenities: Leafy courtyard, restaurant, free Wi-Fi, bicycle rentals and covered parking.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free but limited; reception has restricted hours, so arrange late arrivals ahead.
