Axel's take: 9.2/10

Spacious suites and unusually attentive service make this a strong pick for sharing. an upscale 4-star all-suite hotel near southern Duval Street, scored for what it is.

Santa Maria Suites is an upscale 4-star all-suite hotel that makes particular sense for families and two couples traveling together. Two-bedroom suites come with separate bathrooms, full kitchens and laundry facilities, giving you genuinely useful space rather than just a larger hotel room. Recent Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness, helpful staff and the garden-framed pools. We'd choose it for apartment-style practicality with hotel service; daily muffins, ice cream and poolside happy hour add personality.

The trade-offs are mostly practical: this isn't beachfront, there's no elevator, and bi-level suites put bedrooms upstairs. A few guests mention aging furnishings or noisy air-conditioning, rather than a widespread maintenance problem. The mandatory resort fee, paid parking and extra-person charges deserve attention. Skip it if direct ocean views or step-free access without advance planning are priorities.

  • Best for: families wanting kitchens and laundry; two couples sharing a suite; longer stays near southern Duval

  • Watch out for: mandatory resort fee and additional parking charges; no elevator; bi-level suites have stairs; beach is a short walk away, not on-site

  • Location: Near the quieter southern end of Duval Street, with Southernmost Beach a short walk away.

  • Rooms: Spacious two-bedroom flats and bi-level suites with kitchens, separate bathrooms and laundry; occasional wear gets mentioned.

  • Cleanliness: A clear strength across guest-review sites, with especially high cleanliness ratings on Expedia and Booking.com.

  • Service: Warm, helpful front-desk and poolside staff receive repeated praise across sources.

  • Amenities: Two heated courtyard pools, a fitness room, poolside happy hour and beach-chair services.

  • Fees and surprises: Mandatory daily resort fee, paid parking and supplements above two adults; guests aged 13 and over count as adults.
