Axel's take: 7.9/10

Choose it for historic character and poolside relaxation, not easy ocean swimming. a historic upscale beachfront resort in Hilton’s Curio Collection, scored for what it is.

Casa Marina is a historic upscale beachfront resort, now in Hilton’s Curio Collection rather than Waldorf Astoria. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want waterfront grounds and resort downtime away from Duval’s busiest blocks. The hotel says all guestrooms have been renovated, and recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests regularly praise the comfortable rooms, attractive grounds and friendly staff. Separate family and adults-only pools are a useful distinction.

The biggest catch is the beach: guests across several sites describe a rocky shoreline, with seaweed sometimes bringing unpleasant odors and limiting swimming. Think waterfront lounging rather than a dependable beach holiday. Service earns plenty of praise, but repeated reports of delayed housekeeping and uneven front-desk handling temper the luxury promise. A daily resort fee and separate parking charges add friction. We’d skip it if easy ocean access or consistently polished luxury service is essential.

• Best for: couples seeking poolside downtime; families wanting resort facilities; travelers who appreciate historic hotels

• Watch out for: rocky shoreline and variable seaweed; uneven housekeeping and front-desk service; resort fee plus separate parking charges

• Location: Waterfront setting away from Duval’s busiest blocks; expect a longer walk to Mallory Square.

• Rooms: Renovated rooms generally earn praise for comfort; ocean views and balconies depend on category.

• Cleanliness: Generally strong guest feedback, though housekeeping timing and consistency draw recurring complaints.

• Service: Many guests praise individual staff members, but problem handling is not consistently luxury-level.

• Amenities: Two oceanfront pools, including adults-only, plus dining, spa treatments, fitness facilities and watersports.

• Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee; self-parking and valet cost extra; beach conditions can disappoint swimmers.
