#4 of 5 hotels in Boudhanath by Axel's take. Boudhanath is #5 of 8 places to stay in Kathmandu. The best hotels in Boudhanath, ranked · Where to stay in Kathmandu

Axel's take: 7.6/10

Warm family hospitality makes this basic Boudha base worth considering. a simple, family-run budget inn near Boudhanath Stupa, scored for what it is.

The Boudha Inn is a simple, family-run budget hotel, better approached as a guesthouse than a full-service three-star. We'd consider it for an affordable stay within walking distance of Boudhanath Stupa and nearby monasteries. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming family, while breakfast and helpful service are recurring strengths. It's a good fit if personal attention matters more than polished facilities.

The trade-off is consistency: Booking.com's ratings are noticeably weaker than Expedia's, particularly for facilities and cleanliness. Room categories deserve attention, with guest reports of windowless standard rooms and heating costing extra. One December 2025 guest also reported traffic noise from early morning. We'd skip it if quiet, dependable climate control or uniformly modern rooms are essential; confirm the exact room and breakfast inclusions before booking.

  • Best for: budget-conscious solo travelers; Boudhanath and monastery visitors; travelers who prefer family-run guesthouses

  • Watch out for: room standards and equipment vary; possible early-morning traffic noise; confirm windows, heating and breakfast inclusions

  • Location: Walkable to Boudhanath and monasteries, but the surrounding roads can be busy.

  • Rooms: Basic accommodation; confirm windows and climate control for the specific category.

  • Cleanliness: Often praised, but Booking.com's weaker cleanliness score suggests uneven consistency.

  • Service: Welcoming family hospitality is the clearest strength across several review sites.

  • Amenities: Listings support a restaurant, free Wi-Fi, rooftop terrace and parking; don't assume every catalog amenity.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast and airport transfers may cost extra; one guest reported a heating surcharge.
