#8 of 8 hotels in Patan & Jhamsikhel by Axel's take. Patan & Jhamsikhel is #2 of 8 places to stay in Kathmandu. The best hotels in Patan & Jhamsikhel, ranked · Where to stay in Kathmandu

Axel's take: 7.6/10

A practical Patan base with helpful staff, but modest rooms and possible street noise. a simple 3-star hotel in Patan’s Manbhawan neighborhood, scored for what it is.

Hotel Clarion is a simple 3-star in Manbhawan, Lalitpur, and a sensible pick for travelers whose plans center on Patan. Its strongest selling point is the welcome: Tripadvisor, Hotels.com and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff. Trip.com reviews from 2025 also describe clean rooms, working hot water and attentive service. Patan Durbar Square is roughly a 15-minute walk away, with restaurants and shops nearby.

The trade-off is polish rather than hospitality. A February 2024 Tripadvisor guest thought the rooms needed renovation, while older Hotels.com reviews mention traffic noise from the main road. Those concerns aren't universal, but we'd request a room away from the street. Choose it for a straightforward sightseeing or working base; skip it if fresh interiors and dependable quiet are priorities. Recent review volume remains limited.

  • Best for: Travelers exploring Patan; Work trips based in Lalitpur; Travelers prioritizing helpful service

  • Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are the most consistent strength across review sites.

  • Amenities: Restaurant, bar, garden, free Wi-Fi and free parking are listed; no pool.

  • Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; check breakfast inclusion and confirm late-arrival arrangements directly.
