#2 of 2 hotels in Durbar Square & Freak Street by Axel's take. Durbar Square & Freak Street is #6 of 8 places to stay in Kathmandu. The best hotels in Durbar Square & Freak Street, ranked · Where to stay in Kathmandu

Axel's take: 5.8/10

Convenient for temple visits, but cleanliness and service make it a cautious choice. a basic budget hotel near Pashupatinath Temple, scored for what it is.

Pashupati Plaza is a basic budget hotel in Pingalasthan, best considered for access to Pashupatinath Temple rather than dependable comfort. OYO still markets it under its brand, listing private bathrooms, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, a restaurant and parking. Google's 3.4/5 from 385 reviews suggests mixed experiences overall; the much smaller Trip.com review sample is less reassuring.

Cleanliness and service are the main reservations. Trip.com reviews from late 2024 and early 2025 describe dirty rooms and unhelpful staff, while a September 2026 Tripadvisor guest reports bathroom cleanliness and towel problems. There is positive feedback too, but too little recent detail to establish consistency. We'd consider it only for a short, location-led stay after checking the room; skip it if reliable housekeeping and working room amenities are priorities.

  • Best for: budget travelers visiting Pashupatinath; short, location-first stays

  • Watch out for: repeated cleanliness complaints; inconsistent front-desk service; advertised room amenities may not match reality

  • Location: Pingalasthan location near Pashupatinath Temple is the clearest practical advantage.

  • Rooms: Basic en-suite rooms; one detailed guest report describes dated furniture, missing AC and a broken TV.

  • Cleanliness: Complaints recur across Trip.com and Tripadvisor, including a September 2026 report.

  • Service: Some guests praise staff, but others describe dismissive service and difficulty obtaining basics.

  • Amenities: OYO lists Wi-Fi, restaurant, parking and power backup; confirm working AC and hot water.

  • Fees and surprises: Trip.com lists breakfast as extra; check inclusions and arrival times because platform policies differ.
