#1 of 5 hotels in Boudhanath by Axel's take. Boudhanath is #5 of 8 places to stay in Kathmandu. The best hotels in Boudhanath, ranked · Where to stay in Kathmandu

Axel's take: 9.0/10

A strong Boudha pick for spotless rooms, thoughtful staff and a monastery setting. a monastery-founded, mid-range boutique hotel near Boudhanath Stupa, scored for what it is.

Dolmaling is a mid-range boutique hotel founded by Palnge Monastery, about five minutes’ walk from Boudhanath Stupa. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want comfortable surroundings rather than a basic guesthouse: Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness, helpful staff and comfortable rooms. The outdoor pool, courtyard and yoga sessions add genuine value. The hotel says its profits support the monastery’s monks, giving the Buddhist setting a purpose beyond decoration.

The caveats are mostly small, but check the noise situation before booking: an August 2026 Tripadvisor guest reported construction noise, resolved with a room change; whether that work continues is unconfirmed. Breakfast earns plenty of praise, though some guests find the food less convincing or the buffet insufficiently hot. We’d choose it for a Boudha-focused stay, not for nightlife or luxury-hotel expectations.

  • Best for: travelers exploring Boudhanath; couples seeking a quieter base; yoga and Buddhist-culture visitors

  • Watch out for: construction noise reported in August 2026; current status unconfirmed; occasional food and buffet-temperature complaints; breakfast inclusion depends on booking

  • Location: Around five minutes on foot from Boudhanath Stupa, with shops and restaurants nearby.

  • Rooms: Comfortable, air-conditioned rooms draw strong praise; book the specific balcony category if wanted.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Tripadvisor and recent Expedia reviews.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff are the clearest recurring highlight, including practical problem-solving.

  • Amenities: Confirmed outdoor pool, restaurant, courtyard, yoga and meditation sessions, Wi-Fi and parking.

  • Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; breakfast may be additional, and early check-in or late checkout can incur charges.
