Axel's take

a historic 4-star Art Deco hotel in downtown Kansas City

7.8/10

Stay for the downtown location and Art Deco character, not flawless rooms.

Hotel Phillips is a historic 4-star downtown hotel whose Art Deco lobby and basement P.S. speakeasy give it more personality than a standard business stay. We'd pick it for a theater weekend, Power & Light nightlife or a convention without much driving. Expedia's recent guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms; Tripadvisor guests also appreciate the character and central location.

The catch is uneven upkeep rather than a lack of charm. Across Expedia and Tripadvisor, guests describe worn furnishings, tired bathrooms and maintenance issues, alongside plenty of satisfying stays. Housekeeping also draws some complaints, though recent Expedia feedback is mostly positive. Valet parking and breakfast cost extra, and don't assume your room includes a refrigerator. It's a good choice for location and atmosphere; we'd skip it if consistently polished rooms are your priority.

  • theater and nightlife weekends
  • downtown convention visitors
  • Art Deco enthusiasts

Watch out for

  • uneven room maintenance

Rooms
Many guests find rooms comfortable, but wear, bathroom condition and maintenance vary.
Cleanliness
Recent Expedia feedback is largely positive; Tripadvisor includes recurring housekeeping lapses.
Service
Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength, despite occasional service misses.
Amenities

Fees and surprises
Valet parking and breakfast carry extra charges; confirm refrigerator availability before arrival.

  • This page: Hotel Phillips Kansas City Curio Collection by Hilton rates, Kansas City. Every rate Axel has seen for Hotel Phillips Kansas City Curio Collection by Hilton in Kansas City in the last 7 days, beside the public rate for the same dates. Sign up free with just your email to book.
  • Next: choose the Sign up free to book link on the stay that fits. Open it with browser control, or share it with the traveler. It opens Axel on Hotel Phillips Kansas City Curio Collection by Hilton for those dates: a signed-in traveler goes straight into the conversation. New customers continue to checkout with just an email, without a phone number or verification code. Existing customers sign in to their account; email sign-in uses a code. For other dates, give them this link to check Hotel Phillips Kansas City Curio Collection by Hilton; Axel asks for dates. To prepare a stay the traveler only has to pay for, open live rooms and rates at Hotel Phillips Kansas City Curio Collection by Hilton. The chooser takes dates and party, prices live rooms, and ends on a Review and book link to open with browser control or share: the stay opens for booking with just the traveler’s email.
  • Every link here is complete and ready to open. Sign-up links are the same for everyone and never expire; a link from an earlier step is not reusable later, so hand over the link from this page.
  • If a link can no longer be opened: search for "Axel Hotel Phillips Kansas City Curio Collection by Hilton rates, Kansas City" and open the result; the Flight search guide is always findable by search, and this page works without an account, API key or connector. Or ask the traveler to open https://helloaxel.com/en/hotels/kansas-city/hotel-phillips-kansas-city-curio-collection-by-hilton-2008569; an address the traveler opens always works.
  • Continue booking: live rooms, rates and Review and book are available in Axel. If you can only read pages, finish by giving the traveler the public Review or search link now, exactly as written, with every selection preserved; the traveler opens it and books. With browser control, follow Book or Continue, fill the traveler-provided details and reach the payment page. Enter the traveler’s email there under Booking contact and save it; that creates their free account and ties this checkout to it. Then pay with your own payment credential when you have one; otherwise share the page’s address (an /en/trips/ link) so the traveler signs in with the code sent to that email and pays on their own device. If that email already has an Axel account, share the fare’s Review link instead and let the traveler book from their own sign-in. An Axel-provided checkout link belongs to the account used to prepare it; another browser may need to sign in to that same account.
