Hotels in Kansas Citya modern 3-star in Westport’s dining and nightlife district
7.7/10
A good Westport base, but construction makes it a less straightforward stay.
AC Hotel Kansas City Plaza is a modern 3-star in Westport, rather than on Country Club Plaza itself. It’s a good pick for travelers who want restaurants and bars nearby without needing a full-service hotel. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds; the overall picture is positive, if not exceptional.
The biggest drawback right now is construction. Marriott warns of utility work directly outside on Westport Road, and recent guests describe difficult vehicle access. Expedia also lists exterior renovations through January 31, 2027, subject to change. Some guests report thin walls, hallway noise and maintenance niggles. Parking and standard breakfast cost extra. We’d choose it for a Westport-focused weekend, but skip it for a quiet retreat or an easy, construction-free arrival.

Best for: Westport dining and nightlife; Couples on short city breaks; Travelers prioritizing location over extensive amenities
Watch out for: Westport Road utility work and exterior renovations; Sound carrying from hallways and neighboring rooms; Paid parking and breakfast
Location: Walkable Westport setting near restaurants and bars; not directly on Country Club Plaza.
Rooms: Modern, minimalist rooms with generally comfortable beds; sound insulation and minor upkeep draw complaints.
Cleanliness: Mostly praised across recent reviews, though occasional housekeeping misses appear.
Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are a recurring strength; some guests report check-in or follow-through problems.
Amenities: Fitness center, AC Lounge and breakfast at AC Kitchen; Marriott lists housekeeping every other day.
Fees and surprises: Parking and breakfast are extra; confirm vehicle access during construction. Marriott now permits pets with restrictions and a fee.
