Good for a casino weekend, less convincing as a sightseeing base. A mid-range 3-star casino hotel in North Kansas City, scored for what it is.
Harrah’s is a mid-range 3-star casino hotel, and we’d pick it for gaming or a VooDoo Lounge show rather than a walkable Kansas City getaway. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, clean rooms and welcoming front-desk staff. Restaurants, entertainment and a gym make staying on-site convenient; the overall guest ratings suggest a solid, not exceptional, hotel.
The trade-off is uneven upkeep: Tripadvisor guests describe worn carpets, tired furnishings and lingering smoke, alongside positive stays. Book a specifically non-smoking room rather than assuming the property is smoke-free. PARIC describes phased Las Vegas Tower renovations, and an April 2026 Trip.com guest reported construction outside their room; confirm current work before booking. Expect a nightly resort fee and an incidental deposit. We’d skip it for smoke-sensitive travelers or anyone wanting restaurants and attractions within walking distance.
Best for: casino-focused weekends; VooDoo Lounge concertgoers; travelers with a car
Watch out for: lingering smoke and uneven room upkeep; confirm Las Vegas Tower construction status; nightly resort fee and incidental deposit
Location: Car-oriented riverside setting; convenient for the casino, not a walkable sightseeing base.
Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise, but recent guests disagree about furnishings and maintenance.
Cleanliness: Mostly positive on Expedia and Booking.com, with some recent housekeeping complaints elsewhere.
Service: Friendly, welcoming front-desk staff are a recurring strength in recent reviews.
Amenities: Casino, VooDoo Lounge, three listed restaurants and a 24-hour gym.
Fees and surprises: Nightly resort fee, incidental deposit and possible early/late checkout charges; verify ongoing renovation work.
