Axel's take: 6.0/10

Canal views and improving service, but room quality remains a gamble. a budget canalfront motel in Cape Coral, scored for what it is.

This is a budget canalfront motel in Cape Coral, not a beachfront hotel or a Fort Myers address. We'd consider it for a practical short stay, rather than a vacation centerpiece. The outdoor pool, water-facing balconies and free parking are useful extras. Expedia's summer 2026 guests often praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable air-conditioning, suggesting improvement over earlier stays.

The catch is consistency. Overall ratings on Expedia and Booking.com remain around 6/10, while several early-2026 Tripadvisor guests describe roaches, musty smells and badly worn fittings. Later praise is encouraging, but not enough to dismiss those reports. Guests also reported room and exterior renovations into mid-2026; confirm whether work continues and exactly what kitchenette equipment your room includes. We'd skip it if dependable cleanliness or a finished, well-maintained property matters more than budget waterfront space.

• Best for: budget travelers with a car; short stays near Cape Coral errands

• Watch out for: uneven cleanliness and pest reports; renovations reported into mid-2026; inconsistent kitchenette equipment

• Location: On a Cape Coral canal, not the beach; a car is useful for exploring beyond the neighborhood.

• Rooms: Balconies and kitchenettes add practicality, but fittings and cooking equipment vary.

• Cleanliness: Later-2026 feedback is more positive, following serious early-year complaints about pests and odors.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff are a recurring bright spot in recent reviews.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, free parking, Wi-Fi, barbecue grills and guest laundry; don't assume the catalog's gym exists.

• Fees and surprises: OYO requires a refundable security deposit and says cash is not accepted; confirm renovation status and late-arrival arrangements.
