Axel's take: 6.1/10

A workable budget stop, but uneven housekeeping and a closed pool limit its appeal. A no-frills 2-star roadside motel in North Fort Myers, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star motel, now marketed as Econo Lodge Fort Myers Cape Coral, is a workable overnight stop rather than a vacation base. Free parking, in-room fridges and microwaves, and nearby restaurants cover the practical basics. Recent Expedia guests include plenty who found clean rooms, helpful staff and good value, but the overall picture remains mixed: Booking.com scores it more favorably than Expedia.

The trade-off is consistency. Recent reviews describe dirty floors, bathroom odors and occasional maintenance failures alongside satisfactory stays, so we'd hesitate to recommend it for anyone particular about housekeeping. Choice explicitly says the swimming pool is temporarily unavailable, despite pool listings elsewhere. Expect morning coffee rather than a dependable breakfast, and budget for a required security deposit. It's worth considering for a short, basics-only stay; we'd skip it for a family pool break or a longer holiday.

• Best for: Budget-minded overnight travelers; Drivers wanting nearby dining and free parking

• Watch out for: Swimming pool temporarily unavailable; Uneven housekeeping and room maintenance; Security deposit required

• Location: Roadside North Fort Myers setting with restaurants and shops nearby; practical with a car.

• Rooms: Exterior-entry rooms include fridges and microwaves; condition and maintenance receive mixed feedback.

• Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but recent dirty-floor and bathroom complaints undermine consistency.

• Service: Helpful staff earn praise, though some guests describe brusque treatment and inadequate housekeeping.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, parking and morning coffee; the official site currently flags the swimming pool as unavailable.

• Fees and surprises: Choice requires a security deposit; do not assume advertised breakfast or pool access is available.
