Axel's take: 7.9/10

Come for the pool and tiki bar, not a quiet resort escape. a casual, motel-style 3-star in downtown Cape Coral, scored for what it is.

Dolphin Key is a casual, motel-style 3-star in downtown Cape Coral, not a beachfront resort. It's a good pick for travelers who want a heated pool, a lively tiki bar and restaurants within walking distance. Expedia and Booking.com guests frequently praise the welcoming staff, convenient location and straightforward rooms; the atmosphere is more sociable Florida stopover than polished resort.

The trade-offs are meaningful: live music carries into rooms, and recent guests across sites describe dated furnishings and inconsistent housekeeping, including missed towel changes and dirty floors. Those complaints sit alongside strong overall cleanliness ratings, rather than defining every stay. Reception has limited hours, so arrange late arrivals ahead; there is no elevator. We'd choose it for an easygoing pool-and-nightlife break, but skip it for early nights, dependable daily servicing or beachfront relaxation.

• Best for: live-music and tiki-bar fans; couples on a casual getaway; travelers exploring downtown Cape Coral

• Watch out for: live-music noise into the evening; uneven housekeeping and dated rooms; limited reception hours; no elevator

• Location: Downtown Cape Coral near restaurants and nightlife—not Fort Myers proper or beachfront.

• Rooms: Simple motel-style accommodation; guests report dated furnishings and variable maintenance.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings, but repeated recent complaints about floors and missed housekeeping.

• Service: Friendly front-desk staff are a frequent strength; after-hours assistance is less straightforward.

• Amenities: Heated outdoor pool, Tiki Hut Bar & Grill, live entertainment and free Wi-Fi.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free; pet and late-checkout charges apply, and late arrivals need advance arrangements.
